People of Rajasthan

The people of Rajasthan are as colorful as Rajasthan. They are engaged in various professions. There is a contrast between the occupations of people of Rajasthan in modern times as ancient times. During the old days, caste determined profession, like any other State of India. But today, people are free to choose any profession of their own. The system of caste system which was founded is now based on birth. During the day, we can say that they are still untouched by what we call modernity. It is considered one of the safest destinations in India and all over the world. People of Rajasthan are very solid with natural gay and simplicity.

In any discussion on the people of Rajasthan, the first thing to note is their dress. The colors of the landscapes of Rajasthan easily match the colored people of Rajasthan. Some colors that are dominant in their robes are bright yellow, red, orange and vibrant green. Gota work and gold zari work can be found here. This tradition was implemented at the time of Rajas and Ranis. Rajasthani people are in love with jewelry. In general, women wear Sari, Choli and Ghagra or Lehenga. High status women wear dupatta. The men wear dhotis and a particular type of Kurta with turbans.

Women as men wear earrings or ear studs. Rajasthani women always wear a kind of jewelry and money jewelries are their favorite. The designs of ornaments are also trademarks of the age old traditions. Normally, women wear ornaments in their neck, nose, hand and ear. But in some cases or some kind of social functions, women often carry various ornaments on their body that looks very attractive. Jewelery of Rajasthan is not only favorite among Indians, but it is also appreciated by people all over the world.

Rajasthani men wear turbans, which in Indian language is called a pagdi. Different varieties of turban are worn by persons, which depends on the region and religion. It is said in every 12 kilometers of Rajasthan, the cuisine, dialect; water and the color of the turban vary. There are about 1000 kinds of turbans in different colors and specific styles.

Among the religions of Rajasthan, Rajputs were the leaders of Rajasthan. Brahmins still perform religious rites and are involved in various worship of the Hindu gods. Vaishya are engaged in business. Agriculture is the main occupation of Gurjar, Jat, Kalvi and Mali castes. Different tribes also live and constitute an important part of the population of Rajasthan. They are Garasia, Bhil, Sansi, Meena and Kanjar. Although most people are Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Jain, Christians, Buddhists and Parsis are also stay in this beautiful place.

From ages, Rajasthan women are well known for their beauty and grace. Maharani Gayatri Devi, Padmini Devi of Chiitaurgarh are legends. For some of them, the various historical battles were conducted. Maharani Gayatri Devi was considered among the Top 10 beautiful women in the world. Their charm is still evident in Rajasthan.
